That may be the question on a lot of lips this week as Imagine buck the trend by opening our second office in a climate where most are looking to close branches.
I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn’t crossed my mind too, but as Dragons Den entrepreneurs keep telling us; this is the perfect time to 'pick the scraps from the corporate table'. We have taken over the office formerly filled by a corporate agent who had failed to make it pay last year. So what can we do differently that would justify me investing substantially at this time?
Well firstly I felt the location was actually the best available in the High Street and had earmarked this site over a year ago as 'the one to get' in Bushey. The shop juts out at the pedestrian crossing opposite the Thai Restaurant on the High St. The fact that passing cars and passing walkers alike are subsequently halted outside our window displays full of properties to buy or rent is more than useful.
Secondly, one of my current team has taken a financial stake in the new business. Jason Baker, Bushey born and bred, has been a truly exceptional asset to Imagine since he joined a couple of years back. He has taken advantage of the opportunity to set up in business with someone who can help steer him round the pitfalls and utilise the local reputation Imagine have already established. For my part, I now have an excellent Partner committed to the business long term and this means the level of motivation and service Bushey people will receive will be second to none.
Next up, we will be marketing properties from both offices. You may think this is standard practice for multiple office set ups, but far from it. Technically it requires a lot of planning and robust technology to support such a set up in 'real time' but we were adamant that investing in this would be worthwhile. We now have a unique selling point whereby we can offer a multi agency set up; doubling the number of people we market our homes to, whilst only charging a sole agency fee.
There are many other features we can enlighten you with given the opportunity. Next time you’re passing, feel free to pop in for a chat; you can’t miss us!
