A big ‘THANK YOU!’ to those of you who have signed up to receive the weekly ‘View from the Coleface’ link via Twitter. Yes, I’ve given in to doing our own Twitter page. Hopefully the articles will be entertaining enough to tempt our current followers to retweet each week. (Yes, I’m showing off now!)
I can already see that most subscribers are, like me, new to Twitter. I can see why millions of people do use it although I can’t quite see the fascination of knowing if you’re about to wash your hair or take the dog for a walk etc. as some of the postings I read while researching this idea included. Nor what possible reason someone would think that someone else is interested in reading that information. However, unless I am hit with a flurry of requests to know what colour underwear I’m wearing or what’s on the menu for tea tonight and such like, I intend to stick to the once a week link to the article plus some other nuggets of information. I’ll also regularly include links to our best buys or special offers we’re running.
For those of you who haven’t had the good fortune to be party to my musings before, I thought I should do an initial explanation of what’s in store. Think Jeremy Clarkson for property rather than cars, without the perm and with marginally better fashion sense. I’ve been doing the articles for over a year now and one way or another, they have caused a bit of a stir. They’ve become a talking point amongst both property buyers and sellers, who aren’t used to seeing a property advert that includes a weekly article/rant. It’s also been very powerful in directing people from our local newspaper advertising to our website, which in turn gives us another unique selling point when talking to potential sellers and landlords. Even our competitors have begrudgingly had to admit to a kind of morbid urge to read them!
A fascination with the property market still remains a very British pastime. Even the most sceptical have more than a fleeting interest in house prices, investment properties, interest rates, changes in property regulations, HIPs etc. There should be something to tempt you to read each week, if only to discover what part of the property world I am putting to rights next.
On those rare weeks of thin activity in the property world, I use the opportunity to get a few more general rants of my chest. Subjects that may crop up include technology in football, the European Union, IKEA and cheese. I accept these will have little if any benefit to your world, but it might help to raise a smile.
You can follow us by going to http://twitter.com/ImagineWatford. If you like what you read, please help us by retweeting (RT) or by mentioning us via the Follow Friday trend. Articles will generally be posted on Mondays and start this coming week.
Imagine owner puts the property world to rights with his weekly ‘tongue in cheek’ editorial column.
I have had the dubious pleasure of reaching the mid life age....
