A J9 safe space in Watford

Angela Ellis

Our branch in Central Watford is now a J9 safe space.

J9 is a discreet and innovative support network for domestic abuse victims. It was named in memory of Janine Mundy, who was killed in Cornwall by her estranged husband while he was on police bail.

As part of this initiative, some of our staff have been trained as J9 Champions for those suffering domestic abuse. We are now displaying a J9 sticker in our branch window to show this as a safe space.

Our J9 Champions will also have direct access to local domestic abuse support networks and are able to call on other champions to assist in supporting victims of domestic abuse and their dependants quickly and safely. Champions are people in everyday public jobs who can keep a look out for people that may need some support.
